Google My Business is a free service from Google that allows you to manage the information that Google knows about your organization. Proper filling, optimization and maintenance of your company profile improves your presentation in Google and the findability of your website.
In your company profile you can include all information about your company. You can think of address and contact details, opening hours, parking, photos, etc. Do you have multiple locations? Then all information can be entered for each location. When a (potential) customer searches for you on Google, all of this information will be visible in the knowledge panel on the right side of the page.
Since June 2017 there is the possibility to place posts in the knowledge panel. These are updates to bring your company to the attention. Think of offers, promotions, events, news or blogs. Each update consists of a text of a maximum of 300 words with a link to your website, possibly an image and a call-to-action such as 'read on' or 'more information'.
You can create the mail in My Business and it will be shown in the knowledge panel immediately after creation. After seven days, the mail automatically disappears to the archive so that only current posts are shown.
My Business is also an ideal way to receive feedback from customers and prospects. In addition to leaving people ratings and reviews, questions can also be asked about your business that can be answered by you or other Google users. An important channel for listening and collecting feedback.
Google also provides feedback on how often your company is shown in the search results, how many people have requested directions, contacted, etc.
